Description
STM WET SLIPPER CLUTCH FOR YAMAHA R6 2001-2005
FYA-S070
STM slipper clutches offer two major advantages: assisting the rider and helping to prevent damage to the engine and gearbox. The slipper clutch reduces the effect of engine braking. Engine braking causes the rear wheel to ‘lock up’ and ‘patter’ when braking hard for a corner. A rider who is too aggressive in this situation suffers because the rear wheel loses contact with the ground, making continued braking and a direction change much harder to achieve.
The unique design utilises a primary and a secondary spring, allowing the rider to specify how much drive grip and clutch slip they require, independently, when on and off the throttle. Of course, the STM clutches are pre-supplied with a great pairing of springs, but for riders looking for a particular feel, anything is possible. Primary and secondary springs are available in our store in various kg/mm ratings.
STM are technical partners to HRC, Ducati, PTR Triumph, KTM and TM Racing. These technical partnerships allow the manufacturer to channel R&D into real-world enhancements and improvements, which improve lap times.
WHY INSTALL AN STM CLUTCH
– Prevent the engine from over-revving
– Avoid the rear wheel skipping
– Make climbing possible without using the clutch
– Allow controlled sliding of the rear wheel
– Manage the closing phase of the clutch when cornering (to avoid buckling)
– Allow better lever release (start) thanks to the diaphragm spring.
